Shahjadpur Mosque

The Shahjadpur Mosque is a beautiful and historic mosque located in Shahjadpur Sadar Dargapara, Sirajganj district, Bangladesh. It believed to have built in the 15th century by the famous Sufi monk Makhdum Shah.

The mosque is a rectangular structure with three rows of five domes, for a total of fifteen domes. The length of the mosque is 19.13 meters from north to south and 12.60 meters from east to west. Its interior length and width are 15.77 meters and 9.60 meters respectively and the walls are 1.57 meters thick.

The mosque is divided into a total of fifteen quadrangular areas by dividing the aisles into five colonnades and three colonnades running north-south perpendicular to the qibla wall. The qibla wall is the wall that faces Mecca and is where the Muslims pray.

The mosque is a fine example of early Sultanate period mosque architecture. It features all of the characteristic features of this style of architecture, including the use of domes, pointed arches, and decorative brickwork.

Discover the Wonders of the Bangabandhu Bridge

Bangabandhu Jamuna Eco Park is the only recreation center of Sirajganj district. In 2007, Bangabandhu Jamuna Eco Park  established on 120 acres of land by the Forest Department on the west bank of Bangabandhu Bridge.

Surrounded by the natural greenery of Sunibi, this park attracts visitors every day due to the scenic views of the Yamuna River and the Bangabandhu Bridge, open wildlife and lush natural surroundings.

Tarash (Sights of Sirajganj District)

• An inscription dated 1661 AD on the broken Jorbangala in Tarash reveals that the Gopinath Vigraha temple was served by the Naga clan Kayastha. The Kapileshwar and Govinda Mandir are among the several idol temples of Vinod Ray, Govindaji, Rashik Ray, Kapileshwar Shiva, and others. Each temple showcases unique craftsmanship and was built with small bricks in ancient times.
• Visitors may also be curious about the naming of Tarash and its history. Once upon a time, hearing the name of Tarash would create fear or longing in the mind. Many believe that the name Tarash has originated from the word Taras. Next to Tarash (the ancient name was Chandergaon) is now Binsara village, which can be reached by rickshaw in 10 to 15 minutes.

Home of Suchitra Sen and poet Rajinikanth Sen

Legendary film actress Suchitra Sen and poet Rajinikanth Sen were born in Bhangabari village of Sirajganj district. There is their residence. People from different parts of the country flock here to see the beloved heroine and poet’s house. This abandoned house occupies a lot of space.

The ancestral home of Rabindranath Tagore

• The ancestral house of Rabindranath Tagore known as Rabindra Kachari Bari is located in Shahjadpur Upazila of Sirajganj District. In 1842 Rabindranath Tagore’s grandfather Prince Dwarkanath Tagore bought the bar from the British.
• Rabindranath stayed in this zamindar house for 7 years. Rabindranath wrote various literary works like Chitra, Sena Tari, Chaitali, Gitanjali and Visarjan from this house. The Rabindra Kachari house of about ten bighas has  developed as the Rabindra Museum at present.
• Various pictures of Rabindranath, used items stored here. Here are the works of art painted by the poet, photographs and furniture of the poet’s childhood, adolescence, youth.
• Every day, many ten students from far and wide come to visit the place where the memory of the poet intertwined. There are many other significant places in Sirajganj district where Dashanthants gather regularly. These places have been carrying the tradition of Sirajganj for ages.
